I’m about halfway through my second week here in Russia. I’m adjusting very well, getting the hang of things around here and getting used to putting on my “Russian mask” when I leave buildings. As people ask me how long I’ve been here, it hits me that I really am going to be here for a long time. I wonder how I’ll feel in July when half of us get on the train to Moscow for another 5 weeks and the other half board planes to go back to the States. All I really want right now is to cuddle with my puppy, eat peanut butter, and to go swimming at the lake. I’m tired. Sometimes Russia is over stimulating. I want to get on the internet but it’s so hard to find WiFi. I want to call home, so I bought a calling card, but I can’t read the damn instructions because they’re written in technical Russian. It’s all very frustrating.
The girls any I spent the day at Sadovaya Ploshad (Square) which serves as a big of a shopping area. We went inside a few stores (mostly shoe stores) but none of us bought anything. Instead we bought beer and ice cream then sat in the shade in a beer garden to talk. Before we took the metro home, we went to a small stand and got Samsa (triangles of bread stuffed with cabbage and meat then baked) to eat on the way back. Soooooo good! Then we hit up the bread truck for Hannah and split up at the three line metro station.
I’m tired, so all I’ve done since I got home is play solitaire, not do my homework, listen to music, and attempt to translate the calling card instructions. I need to do my homework though.
I just want to talk to people….
xoxo
